Glade Spring, VA – Cletis Boyd Dishman, age 81, passed on Monday, February 12, 2018, surrounded by her family at her home. Cletis was born December 30, 1936, in Meadowview, VA to the late Haynes and Charity Wheeler Boyd. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church for over 35 years and retired from Emory & Henry College after many years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Troy Dishman; and four sisters and three brothers.
Cletis’ children, family, friends, and church were her top priority. She was a dedicated and hard-working wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. As a mother, she was always there for you sharing in life’s ups and downs, never judging anyone for any reason. She was a mother and father at times, playing baseball, fishing and hunting with the kids, and always giving. Cletis was full of love, patience, and support. She will be sadly missed and always remembered by everyone that knew her.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Harmon and special daughter-in-law Carol of Glade Spring, VA, and Ricky Harmon of Florence, SC; daughter, Helen Mutter and special son-in-law Alan of Glade Spring, VA; grandchildren, Laura Richardson and husband Jay, Josh Harmon and wife Tiffany, Greg Mutter, and Adam Mutter and fiancée Jenna Bowers; great grandchildren, Allyson Counts and husband Drew, Madison DeBord and fiancée Keith Jones, Bradley Mutter, Cameron Mutter, Dylan Mutter, Ava Jayne Harmon, Halle Richardson, and Gunner Richardson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor John Harmon and Pastor Dean Lundy officiating. A graveside committal service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, in Mt. Rose Cemetery with Josh Harmon, Adam Mutter, Jay Richardson, Drew Counts, Steve Boyd, and Harry Boyd serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be special friend Clara Mash, Greg Mutter, Bradley Mutter, Charlie Harmon, John Harmon, the men of Landmark Baptist Church, and nephews. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to meet at the cemetery before 11:00 a.m.
