Condia Weddle, 82, departed this life for his Heavenly home on Sunday, September 11, 2011 with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Balken, KY on October 21, 1928 to the late Daisy Weddle and Charles Weddle.
Condia was a retired coal miner from Clinchfield Coal Company after 32 years. He served in the Merchant Marines and was a member of Abingdon Masonic Lodge #48. Condia was a private licensed pilot and enjoyed flying with his wife. He was wonderful at telling stories about his past as a young boy and man, which his children and grandchildren loved to hear and will cherish the memories. Condia touched many lives, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Mark Weddle; 3 sisters, Grace Deal, Mary Estremsky and Alice Weddle; 7 brothers, Chester, Dewey, Elijah, Charles, Samuel, Joey, Jimmy and Gene.
Condia is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Bobby Dotson Weddle; two daughters, Brenda Weddle Majors of Bristol, VA and Shawnee Weddle Jessee and husband, Harry of Abingdon; four sons, Jerry and wife, Sherri of Kingsport, TN, Johnny and wife, Beverly, Darrell and wife, Diane and Harold and wife, Sherry all of Abingdon; 2 sisters, Patricia Morris and husband, Larry of Wilmington, NC and Stella Stokely and husband, Chuck of Bel Air, Maryland; 2 brothers, Glenn Weddle and Calvin Weddle of Maryland; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 or at anytime prior at the home of Bobby Weddle, 19255 Oakwood Dr., Abingdon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 15, 2011 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Ken Holmes officiating. Mausoleum entombment will follow in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Condia's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
