Abingdon, Va. Conley Parsley, Jr., 62, of Abingdon, Va.
After spending the past several years battling serious illnesses, including ESRD for the past four years, Conley succumbed to an unexpected medical complication on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Conley’s family is grateful to the 3rd Floor CCU staff of nurses and doctors for their excellent care which lead to us having an extra day to comfort Conley and hold his hand. We are thankful his suffering has come to an end. “You deserve all the comfort and peace you now have. We love you always.”
Conley was born on October 22, 1956, to Conley Parsley, Sr. and Icy Parsley in Man, W. Va.
His loving and adoring family include: Lori, his wife of 36 years; his girls, Pati Parsley Dale of Bland, Va., and Stephanie Parsley of Roanoke, Va.; he is PaCon to his precious grandboys, Asher and Tobey Dale; his son-in-law Adam Dale; his father Conley Parsley, Sr., of Gallatin, Tenn.; his sister Debbie Parsley of Nashville, Tenn.; Christine Parsley; his mother-in-law Patricia Paynter of West Virginia; his uncles and families, Roland Parsley of Huntington, W. Va., and Hiram Parsley of Las Vegas, Nev.; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law and families: Bill Paynter of Raleigh, N.C., Teresa Howell of Charleston, S.C., Sherry Paynter of Roanoke, Va., and Sandra Toler of Canvas, W. Va.; and finally, his “third daughter,” our little Yorkie Sophie, as well as Kristen Flanders.
Cherished family who he has been reunited with are: his mother, Icy Parsley; his father-in-law Roger Paynter; his grandparents Hiram and Anna Parsley, and Linco and Evaline Blankenship; his grandfather Thomas Damron; and his aunt Wanda Evans.
He was a graduate of Man High School and also a graduate of West Virginia University. He was passionate about his WVU football and basketball. Conley was a former deacon and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lebanon.
Conley’s accomplished career in human resources spanned 28 years and included over 22 years with Pittston Coal Company, while the later years were at A T & T in Lebanon, Va., and Sykes in Vansant, Va.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Pastor James Nunley will be officiating the service, and music will be provided by Richie McDonald of Nashville, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. At Conley’s request from several months ago, pallbearers will include Adam Dale; his friends at Pittston: Joe Pendergast, Doug Harris, and George Strong; loving family members: Bill Paynter, Will Paynter, Jack Paynter, Rick Trogdon, Cameron Trogdon and Ben Trogdon. Honorary pallbearers are Asher and Tobey Dale.
Through his journey over the past 12 years, many people helped us along the way and we wish to thank them; in particular: Sandy and Rocky Dale; Brent Dale; Brandon Dale; Fresenius Dialysis of Abingdon; Dr. Sutherland and Nurse Crystal at JMH ER; 3rd floor CCU doctors and nurses, especially Stephanie; Kidney Foundation; Fresenius Medical; his “friends” at dialysis; and his dad, Conley, Sr.
