Abingdon, VA – Connie Jean Griffith Powers, age 65, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, in Johnston Memorial Hospital. Connie was a peer of Duncansville Church in Brumley Gap, wife of a logger and farmer, and a mother and granny to many. She will be missed. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Griffith, Sr. and Shirley Marie Walden Barrett.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rev. Clark Powers; children, Grady Griffith and wife Louise, Steve Powers, Junior Powers and wife Heather, Mary Ray and husband Craig, and Lucas Powers and wife April; brothers, Roy L. "Buck" Griffith Jr. and fiancé Marjorie Tester, James Barrett and wife Sandra, Wayne Barrett, Allen Barrett and wife Nancy, and Clay Barrett and wife Misty; grandchildren who she dearly loved, Stephanie, Anthony, Jacob, Hannah, Justin, Caitlen, Jessie, Bailey, Alexis, Mackenzie, Breanna, Myranda, Chloie, L.J., Icis, Whitley, Miranda, and Gracie; special great grandchildren, Aria, Erik, Willow, Emery, Elijah, Eva, Josiah, Macie, Jaxon, and Jetson; special friends, Gaylene Justus and Leola Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Darvin Woodruff, Evangelist James Galliher, and Pastor Hassel Justus officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
