Meadowview, VA Coy B. Cannon, age 73, passed from this life to eternal life on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Johnston Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of Lloyd B. and Ada Hutton Cannon. Coy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, advisor and friend to many. He was a well-known and respected contractor in the area and was a founding member of Trinity Baptist Church. His church activities included Senior Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher. Coy was predeceased by a son: Stephen Mark Cannon; a grandchild: Mackenzie Riley Carter; and two brothers: Earl Cannon and Thurl Cannon. Survivors include his wife: Bertha B. Cannon; two sons: Anthony Wayne Cannon and wife Debbie of Atlanta, GA; and Marvin Craig Cannon and wife Teresa of Meadowview; daughter: Lisa Jonae Carter and husband Rex of Abingdon; a brother: Carl Cannon and wife Mabel of Meadowview. Coy is also survived by the following grandchildren: Christopher, Brooke and Lindsay Cannon; Wesley, Bethany and Adaley Carter; and step-grandson Joshua Gobble. Additionally, he is survived by children of his heart: Ricky (Shag) and Patty Thomas, Kristie Sheets, Miranda Wilson Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 17, 2015 from 6 to 9 PM at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, located at 19415 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, VA. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 18, 2015 in the Forest Hills Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Blevins, Brother Tim Stevens and Brother Darrell Watson officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Craig Cannon, Ricky Thomas, Tim Booth, Troy Hinchey, Bro. Mark Baumgardner and Douglas Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Campbell, Eddie McConnell, Bro. Floyd Nelson, Bro. Jerry Eggers, Bro. Bob Steele, Bro. Butch Abbott, Bro.Wes Eller, Bro. Steve Huffman, Cliff McConnell, Marvin Tate and the men of Trinity Baptist Church.
