Curtis Mitchell Stone, age 88, of Bristol, Va., went home on Monday, November 27, 2017, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born March 8, 1929, to the late Claude Stone and Maggie Boles Stone. Curtis served in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He retired after 40 years with The Robinette Company, the former Strong-Robinette Bag Company, of Bristol, Tenn. and was a member of Edgemont Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, Curtis was also preceded in death by 11 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine McCroskey Stone; son, Curtis Mitchell “Mike” Stone, II and wife, Marcia Elizabeth “Beth” W. Stone, of Bristol, Va.; grandson, Curtis Mitchell “Curt” Stone of Bristol, Va.; sister-in-law, Mary Stone; two special nephews, Billy Stone and wife, Barbara, and Howard Stone and wife, Jan; and numerous additional nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at Edgemont Presbyterian Church, 1013 Edgemont Ave., Bristol, Tenn. 37620, with Rev. Aaron Bartmess officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Friday at the church prior to the service. A committal service will be held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Military Honors will be provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Edgemont Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
