Curtis Wade Cox, age 56, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 7, 2012 at home, after his battle with illness. He was employed by Steel Fab, a U.S. Army veteran, loved his pets as well as hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Scott and Maude Scyphers and Dallas and Dora Cox; a step-father Elwood Price and a sister Sherry Combs.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Becky Cox; mother, Goldie Scyphers Price; father, Willie Freeman Cox; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Minton and her husband, Charlie; three grandchildren, Allison, Chris and Shawn Minton; two brothers, Steve Price and Rodney Cox;. Additional survivors include in-laws B.J. Thayer; Delores Coe and husband Kim; Polly Thayer, Jamerson Thayer; Danny Thayer; Teresa Emerson and husband Ronnie; Bobby Thayer and wife Anita; and Sandra Thayer.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street , Abingdon with Pastor Adam Wise and Pastor Paul Price officiating. The interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens . Military rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and Virginia National Guard Honor Guard. Pall bearers will be Bobby Arnold, Tom Booth, Jr., Wess Crabtree, Gary Mullins, Monty Reynolds, Jimmy Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and family
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
