Dale Echols Winship

Dale Echols Winship, age 94, of Bristol, VA, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 in Abingdon, VA.

Dale was born in Staunton, VA on July 27, 1917, the daughter of Lemuel and Mattie Echols. Dale met her husband, Pat Winship, at the University of North Carolina in 1940. She served as an officer in the United States Navy during World War II. During her life in Bristol, she worked at King College in the Public Relations office and is fondly remembered by students and colleagues who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George P. "Pat" Winship, Jr.

She is survived by her children Susan Winship, of the home; Jim Winship and wife Rita Richardson, of Whitewater, WI; David Winship, of Abingdon, VA; grandchildren, Hope Winship of Washington, D.C.; Parker Winship of Milwaukee, WI; Becca Winship of Philadelphia, PA; and Jessie Winship of Abingdon, VA.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Bristol, TN.
