Abingdon, VA Mr. Dana Patrick “Pete” Johnson, age 53, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Salem, Virginia and had moved to this area in 1992. He was owner and operator of Johnson and Son Auto Repair. Pete was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. He also liked to participate in shooting matches every weekend. He was especially fond of his two dogs Lucy and Bobo. He was a member of the Salem Church of Christ. He was a loving son, husband, brother and father. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Fred and Edna Jackson; paternal grandparents Slemp and Pearlie Johnson; and maternal grandparents Gilmer and Aston Hess. Pete is survived by his parents, W. Carlis and Virginia Hess Johnson of Salem; his loving wife, Rita Johnson of Abingdon; son Joshua Ryan Johnson of Abingdon; brother Allen Johnson and wife Karen of Vinton, VA; sisters Teresa Walker and husband Terry of Roanoke, and Patty Sumner and husband Stanley of Salem; nephews Jason Sumner, Logan Pruett and Cody Pruett; great nephews Ayden Pruett and Parker Pruett; and extended family Penny and Alexis Davidson, whom he loved like a daughter and granddaughter. The funeral service for Pete Johnson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the funeral home.
