Danny Reece Howell

Danny Reece Howell (67), devoted family man and friend, sadly left this world unexpectedly on July 20, 2024. Known for his sunny personality and gentle, kind humor, many people remember him as someone with a warm smile and easy conversation. 

 Danny was born November 20, 1956 in Smyth County, VA to Edwin William and Irene Howell. He grew up on a small family farm on Old Mill road in Glade Spring, VA. He often fondly shared his childhood memories spent there with his parents and siblings. He always remained close with his brothers and sisters. Danny graduated from Patrick Henry High School and attended Virginia Highlands Community College. He worked throughout the Tri Cities region in the manufacturing industry until his retirement. In the summer of 1983, he married his best friend, Connie Jean Brooks. They have been married for 41 years. They made their home in Abingdon, VA for all these years. Danny served as a wonderful father figure to Connie's son, Todd Amos and her nephew, Steven Smith. He often shared his love of cars, motorcycles, and music with them. Danny was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed many Sunday afternoon rides with his brother, Gary and nephew, Richard. It was his favorite pastime! 

 Danny was predeceased by his mother and father, his sisters Penny Howell and Ella Mae Holmes, and nephews David, Mark, and Chuck. He is survived by his wife, Connie, stepsons Todd Amos and Steven Smith, daughter in law, Marty Smith, and several nieces and nephews. He was much loved, appreciated, and will be greatly missed!

 A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
