David LeRoy Bolinger, age 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 23, 2024 surrounded by family after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born to Larry Lee Bolinger and Rose Ann Bilderback Bolinger on September 6, 1956 at McDill Airforce Base in Tampa, Florida. During his childhood years, he lived in 10 different states and Nigeria, West Africa where his parents were missionaries.
David graduated from Smithville High School in Smithville, Ohio. He earned two associate degrees, one in Industrial Engineering and the other in Mechanical Engineering from Kent State University and a bachelor's degree in Leadership and Management from Virginia Intermont College.
David worked at various manufacturing companies over the years in other states and locally as Quality Control Inspector and QC Manager. He worked with plastics, automotive, steel and aerospace industries. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Kennametal and Wolf Hills Fabricators.
His hobbies included skiing, riding his motorcycle, running competitively, and reading. He was an avid photographer. He loved being in nature and hiking. He especially loved to travel and visited many of the U.S. National Parks.
He was a member of Abingdon Bible Church where he served at various times as usher, greeter, deacon, treasurer, and on the security team.
David married Brenda Partridge on June 21, 1980 in Warren, Ohio. His special joy was their only child, Rachel. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Brenda; daughter, Rachel (Jeremy) Snyder of Madison Heights, VA; his mother, Rose Bolinger; sister, Susan (Rick) Dilyard; brothers, Jon (Stephanie) Bolinger, and Brian Bolinger, all of whom live in OH; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father, Larry; sister-in-law, Lori Bolinger; and nephews Nathan Dilyard and Jonathan Bolinger.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at Abingdon Bible Church, 16210 Elementary Dr., Abingdon, VA on Sunday, July 28th. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. with the service to follow at 4 p.m. with Associate Pastor Paul Bufford officiating. For those unable to attend, his service will be live streamed beginning at 4 p.m. on Abingdon Bible Church’s YouTube page and will be recorded for later viewing. A second celebration will be held at Smithville Brethren Church, 193 E. Main St., Smithville, OH on Saturday August 3rd. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. with the service to follow at 2 p.m.

Special thanks to the compassionate nurses at Ballad Health Hospice House who cared for David in his final days.
