Mass of Christian Burial for David Gary Hess, age 70, of Glade Spring, Va., and formerly of Muenster, Texas, is set for 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster with Father Ken Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary and vigil will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. Mr. Hess passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
David was born August 31, 1946, in Muenster to Arnold and Leona Rose (Yosten) Hess. He married Billie Jean (Underwood) Hess on Thursday, October 24, 1974, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster.
David was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He worked at Eddie’s Precision Machining of Abingdon, Bristol Compressors, and Hubs and Wheels in Emory. David was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Billie Hess of Abingdon, Va.; children: Sharon and husband, Chris Rice of Riverside, Calif.; Shelley and husband, Tim Franz of Austin, Texas; Mathew and wife, Lara Hess of Austin; Randal Hess of Austin, and Bonnie Hess of Buckholts, Texas; mother, Leona “Bonnie” Yosten Hess of Muenster; brothers: Don and wife, Martha Hess of Muenster; Bob, and wife, Janette Hess of Muenster; twin brother, Dennis and wife, Gail Hess of Lindsay, Texas; Steve Hess of Mt. Vernon, Texas; Larry Hess of Sanger, Texas; and Mark Hess of Nocona Hills, Texas; grandchildren: Patrick Rice and Allison Rice both of Riverside, Calif.; and Lola Hess; Autumn Hess; and Torsten Hess all of Austin. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Hess; brother, Karl Hess; and sister, Frances Stratton.
Pallbearers will be: Tim Franz, Chris Rice, Toby Hess, Barry Hess, Sarah Hess, Jennifer Hess, John Corbett, and Trisha Stratton.
