Abingdon, VA David Jackson, age 73, passed on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. David was born and raised in Saltville, VA and later moved to Abingdon. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired after 27 years of employment as a route driver from United Parcel Service. David is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Polly Allison Jackson; and his wife, Wanda Louise McNew Jackson.
He is survived by his son, Bryan Jackson and wife Selena of Bristol, TN; daughter, Farrah White and husband Jason of Abingdon, VA; sisters, Patsy Call and husband Raymond of Saltville, VA and Shirley Holmes and husband Bo of Saltville, VA; grandchildren, Steven Jackson of Bristol, TN and Chloe Jackson of Alexandria, VA; granddaughter by choice, Tia Land of Abingdon, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Knollkreg Memorial Park with Pastor Scott Price officiating. Military Rites will conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Pallbearers will be Gerry Collins, Joe Collins, Mike Meredith, Shem Meredith, Steven Jackson, and Wesley Reedy. Dr. Timothy Collins will be an honorary pallbearer.
