David Michael Taylor

Meadowview, VA- David “Mike” Taylor, age 63, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born to the late Clyde C. Taylor and Clara Ann Kestner Taylor on November 13, 1950. Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany and Korea. He was an employee of U.S. Gypsum for 20 years and worked at Ferrell Gas delivering propane for 14 years. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and watching NASCAR. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 43 years, Jane Lee “June” Woodward Taylor; three sons: Christopher Taylor of Meadowview, VA; David Taylor, USN and wife Michele of Virginia Beach, VA; and Michael Taylor of Meadowview, VA; brother, Jack Taylor and wife Janie of Salem, VA; and four grandchildren, Kaela Taylor, Kelsie Taylor, Cody Church, and Lily Taylor. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Chestnut Grove Community Church on Hidden Valley Road. A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 19th at the church with Pastor Olen Cassell officiating. A committal service will follow at Mt. Rose Cemetery where Military Honors will be presented by Highlands Veteran’s Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Pallbearers will be Brian Stewart, Jason Taylor, Kelsie Taylor, Steven Taylor, Hai Tran, and Josh Woodward. The men of Chestnut Grove Community Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Wellmont Cancer Institute at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
