July 16, 1939 -September 19, 2024

Bluff City, TN- Dawn believed that beyond ourselves, all we have are our relationships. She left as she lived -thoughtfully and without fuss. She loved life and she cherished her family and friends.

The following passage reifies Dawn’s philosophy:

Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which we always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that is always was. Let it be spoken without effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. This is absolute and unbroken continuity.  That is this death but a negligible accident. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner...All is well.

Dawn is survived by her husband, John Snodgrass; their children, Kimberly Napier, her daughter Lauren; Chrisann Derrick, her sons Justin Cason, his partner Janelle, and Brandon Cason, his son McCoy and fiance Jessica; Amy Burnham, her husband Dan, their children Camaron Hollis, his fiancé Taylor, and Sierra Stutzman, her husband Scott, their children Charlotte and Noah; Jodi Short, her husband Evan; Miranda Flood, her husband Mike, their son Jesse; Dustin Snodgrass, his wife Haylie, their children Piper and Cayden; her brother, Kern Hesseltine, his wife Pam; and her sister Sharon Looke, her husband Jim and their daughters Tammy and Sheri. Dawn leaves behind numerous beloved nieces, nephews, other family members, longtime friends, and her faithful canine companion J.D. Dawn will be remembered for her kindness and sense of humor.

Dawn was predeceased by her parents Gordon Hesseltine and Elaine Dale; her brothers Paul, Hale, and Gordon; and her sister Gail.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2024, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Bob Neace officiating. Entombment will be private in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
