Abingdon, Va. - Deborah “Debbie” Lorraine Dillard Carrier, age 69, passed away at her earthly home to be with her Lord in her heavenly home on Thursday, February, 18, 2021. She was born on July 26, 1951, in Abingdon, Virginia, to the late Lonzo and Iona Pearl Campbell Dillard.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia, and was the Human Resources Manager at Walmart 620 in Bristol, Tennessee until her retirement. She was a loving and giving person with the heart of a true servant of Christ. She loved to cook and loved her church, Woodland Hills Christian Church, and she liked to bless her church family with her cooking. She faithfully served at church along with her husband however she was needed. She was a Prayer Warrior and a devoted student of the Bible. As her husband, Doug, said, “We don’t have to fluff her up to make her look good. She already looked good!”
Debbie is survived by her husband, Doug; sons, Jay Gouge and Jim Jackson; daughters, Stephanie Musick (Lee), and Amanda Kilgore (Michael); grandchildren, Zachary Gouge, Caleb Gouge (Chi), Emma Musick, and Michael Kilgore, Jr.; great-granddaughter Aubrey Gouge; and loving friend, Elaine Benton.
The family extends special thanks to the Walmart 620 family, Dr. Holly Grigsby and staff, and the Woodland Hills Christian Church family.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Woodland Hills Christian Church. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM, with Pastors Paul and Nick Viers officiating. A committal service will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Tim Dye, Rick Toombs, Bill Anderson, Kenny Schweitzer, Mike Mitchell, Andy Mullins, Johnny Dillard, and Billy Dillard will serve as pallbearers. Brenda Wilson, Maureen Moore, Phyllis Greathead, Becca Jones, Josh Necessary, and John and Carol Baldwin receive special recognition as honorary pallbearers.
COVID-19 guidelines will be followed to include wearing of masks, social distancing, and adhering to occupancy guidelines.
