Debra Sue Belcher, age 59, passed away on Monday, October 17,2022, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born in Smyth County, VA but spent most of her life in the Glade Spring area. Debra worked for a number of years at TRW and she also was a member of the Glade Spring Life Saving Crew. When her health permitted, she attended Meadowview Pentecostal Holiness Church. Debra lost her husband at an early age and faced many health challenges. Despite these setbacks she maintained her faith. She was a fighter and head strong but maintained her loving and passionate disposition. Debra enjoyed crafts and loved her grandbabies.
She was predeceased by her husband James Lee Belcher; parents John Harvey and Shirley Louise Hess; sisters Wanda Barbrow and Teresa Snider.
Debra is survived by her daughter Leigh Ann Miller and husband Wayne, son Shane Belcher and wife Morgan; grandchildren Matthew Miller, Carlee, James, Jeremiah, Emily and Maddy Belcher; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 1:30 PM at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Jay Overbay. Interment will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery with Matthew Miller, Jeremiah Belcher, James Belcher, Aaron Barbrow, Mike Barbrow, and Travis Cannon serving as pallbearers.
