Abingdon, VA – Dennis Keith Edmondson, age 52, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. Dennis was a graduate of Holston High School and was a member of Damascus Road Baptist Church where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent and sound technician. He was a past police officer with the Glade Spring Police Dept., Abingdon Police Dept., and the Washington County Sheriff’s Dept. Dennis also in the past served as service writer at Empire Ford. Prior to the onset of his illness, Dennis served as the service writer and wrecker driver for Pioneer Chevrolet and was an employee at Farris Funeral Service. Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, and woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Angie Wyatt Edmondson; daughter, Tanna E. (Aaron) Hagy of Abingdon, VA; granddaughter, Lynnleigh Hagy of Abingdon, VA; step daughter, Whitley Hudson of the home; mother, Catherine W. (Robert) Martin of Chilhowie, VA; father, Keith E. (Emily) Edmondson of Chilhowie, VA; sister, Debbie (Jim) Anderson of Damascus, VA; mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Barbara Wyatt of Abingdon, VA; niece, Sarah (B. Ray) Angles; and nephew, Matthew (Leah) Anderson. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Damascus Road Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. John E. Massey, Jr. and Bro. Eddie Gobble officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Kenny Doss, Wayne Hayter, Chandler Lawson, David Osborne, Joe Pippin, Greg Caldwell, Darrell Dyson, and Aaron Hagy serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Hay, Danny Freeman, Allen Blevins, Larry Brown, past and present members of the Washington County Sheriff’s Dept., and employees of Pioneer Chevrolet. At Dennis’ request, his casket will be transported to the cemetery on the rollback he operated at Pioneer Chevrolet. Those wishing to travel in procession are asked to convene at the funeral home before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
