Donald "Don" "Gene" Beach, 73, passed away at his home on Friday, September 3, 2010.
Don served his country 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also a life member of V.F.W. Post #1994 and American Legion Post #12 and was proud owner of Don's Garage in Abingdon for 35 years.
Don is survived by his wife, Peggy B. Beach; daughter, Phyllis L. Ayling; niece, Malinda Davenport; one brother; several nieces and nephews and his devoted customers.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 6, 2010 at Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Interment will follow. Military honors will be provided by Highlands Fellowship Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Kenny French, Jim Jamison, Derek Pepin, Randy Bise, and Tim Mowery. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of V.F.W. Post #1994 and American Legion Post #12.
Don's family would like to express a special thanks to Kenny French, Jim Jamison and loyal customers and friends.
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service, 427 E. Main St. Abingdon, VA from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, September 5, 2010.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southwest Virginia or to the Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
