Donald Lee Belcher

Glade Spring, VA – Donald Lee Belcher, 87, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at his home.  Don was a 1947 graduate of Grundy High School and was a retired truck driver.  He and his family lived in Big Rock, VA for many years before moving to Glade Spring in 1989.  Don served faithfully at both Big Rock Church of Christ and Macedonia Church of Christ. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elsie Tackett Belcher; daughter, Vikki Parsons; brothers, Lawrence and Richard Belcher; sister, Carleen Hackney; and daughter-in-law, Sandee Vance Belcher. Don is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois Shortridge Belcher; son, Mike Belcher and wife Patricia of Meadowview, VA; daughter, Kim Anderson of Glade Spring, VA; brother, Paul Belcher and wife Gerri of Conaway, VA; sisters, Shirley Atkinson and husband Charles of Bristol, VA and Jean Ferrell and husband L.C. of Conaway, VA; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and his favorite furry companion, “Minnie”.   

Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Macedonia Church of Christ, 25350 Watauga Road, Abingdon, VA.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with Minister Ron Musick officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with James Smith, Richard Belcher, Keiran Smith, Tony Austin, Bryan Ratliff, and Steve Counts serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Perkins, Richard Williams, and Charlie Taylor.
