Donald Lee ââ?¬Ë?Don' Venable, age 78, passed away at his residence Saturday morning, November 2, 2013. Don was from the Blackwell's Chapel community, worked for the Triplett Logging Company for several years, and was an avid fisherman. He was currently a volunteer at Johnston Memorial Hospital where he shuttled numerous folks from the parking lot to the hospital on his golf cart. He also attended Gospel Tabernacle Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Della Venable; brothers, James and Albert Venable; sisters, Roberta Mae Roberts, Helen Heffienger, and Kathleen McHugh.
He leaves behind his special friends that cared for him, Hunter and Alice Becker. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews and special friends, Gladys, Lauren, Susie and Valarie Becker, and Tom and Samantha Clark.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Mount Rose Cemetery with Pastor David Robins officiating. Pallbearers will be Jared Stanley, Bobby Rutter, Tommy Clark, Taylor DeBusk, Rick Porter and Michael McGlocklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Docky Triplett, Glen David Triplett, volunteer employees at Johnston Memorial Hospital, and neighbors, Jim Blevins and Ron Hearld.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 246, Abingdon, VA 24212, or to the Gospel Tabernacle Church, 15292 Enterprise Road, Abingdon, VA 24211.
