Abingdon, VA Mr. Donnie “Don” Nunley, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital. Don was born in the Hidden Valley Community of Washington County, VA and he spent his entire life in this area. He was a Christian, and he loved spending time in the mountains where he was born. Don loved NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhart and the #3 car. He was also a fan of the Washington Redskins. Don will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father and friend. Don was predeceased by his father, Carles Nunley, and an infant son, Christopher Adam Nunley. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Kay Nunley; son Tyler Bryant Nunley and wife Rebecca of Elmendorf AFB, AK; daughter Kristina Rae Maxwell and husband Rusty of Waldorf, MD; mother Minnie Nunley of Abingdon, VA; seven brothers: Dolt, Wayne, Bob, Jay, June, Dave and Jeff Nunley; three sisters: Hess Reynolds, Sis Nunley, and Lena Rasnake. Don also leaves behind his precious puppy Chacha. A funeral service for Donnie “Don” Nunley will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Tim Norris officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens where brothers will serve as pallbearers and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Main Street Chapel. Friends attending the visitation and funeral service are encouraged to dress casually and wear their NASCAR and Dale Earnhart attire if desired.
