In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie. They had many happy moments during their 55 years of marriage. Her daughter-in-law, Kittye, preceded her in death in 2016. Also, preceding her in death were her brothers Howard, Lloyd, Hubert, Malcolm and Anthony, and one sister, Hazel Emory.
Left to cherish her memories are her son Charles (Judy) and granddaughters Angie Owens (Dwight) and Pam Clements (Benjamin). She was especially proud of her great- grandchildren Abby and Ethan Owens, and Caroline, Owen and Becca Clements. Her surviving step-granddaughters are Sheri (Ray) McRae and Nicole (Jason) Matthews and their children, Alek and Ian McRae, and Preston Matthews. Several nephews and nieces survive Dora.
Dora was a wonderful wife, mother and mommaw. She loved reading, watching her stories, telling stories and visiting with her neighbors. She loved to cook using the many vegetables that she had canned or frozen. Her specialty was strawberry jam. She was an accomplished seamstress who worked in a garment factory for several years. Dora never met a stranger and loved having company.
Dora was a Christian who for many years was a member of Scenic Park Baptist Church. Later in life she became a member at East Bristol Church of Christ.
