Blountville, TN Dorce Earl “Joe” McReynolds passed into his eternal home on March 17, 2015. He lived on Lee Highway for 54 years and moved to Blountville in 2012. He was born in Russell County, Virginia in 1925, the second son of H.L. and Edna Campbell McReynolds. He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Norman E. McReynolds, his mother and father-in-law Rev. Ralph and Beulah Flanary, and many loyal and devoted friends. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in both the European and Pacific theatre of operations, as a member of the 86th Blackhawks, 332nd Division under General George S. Patton’s 3rd Army in Germany. Joe was a well-known building contractor, real estate developer, and co-owner of Gate City Auto Parts for 34 years. He was a charter member of Midway Baptist Church, having served as a Sunday School director, Training Union director, young adult teacher, treasurer, deacon, and chairman of deacons. He has been a member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church for several years. Joe was active in his community in leadership positions by serving on the Washington Country Little League Board as president and coach. He was a dedicated member of the Washington County Republican Party, Washington County Library Board, Washington County GED Board, Washington County Zoning Appeals Board, and the Abingdon Civitan Club. He was a people person who never met a stranger. He loved to interact with friends and neighbors. He liked to travel and enjoyed Major League Baseball. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Jean Flanary McReynolds; his three sons, Joseph Edward and wife Pam of Denver, CO, Jon Lincoln and wife Jennifer, of Kingsport, TN, and Michael Lee and wife Erika, of Greensboro, NC; his two daughters, Holly Michelle and husband Russ Mantooth, of Blountville, TN, and Kimberly Suzanne and husband Steve Conzett of Orlando, FL; the loves of his life, his beloved grandchildren: Lucas, Jacob, and Jessica, children of Jon and Jennifer; Victoria and Emily, children of Michael and Erika; Corey Conzett, son of Steve and Kimberly; and Wendi Malone and Isreal Gibson, children of Pamela and Joe. He is survived by a younger brother, George Larry McReynolds and wife Glenna, of Castlewood, VA. He is also survived by a large extended family that will miss him greatly: Gilbert and Barbara Button and family, Fred and Carolyn Helms and family, Edward Ralph Flanary and family, Kathy Hall and family, Patty Sanders and family, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. before the service. Dr. Bob Jones and Rev. Luke Martin will officiate. Entombment will be Saturday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway. Rev. Dexter Terry will officiate. Military graveside rites will be offered by Highlands Veterans Honor Guards and the Virginia National Guard. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank and Shirley Rhoton, Landon Crusenberry, Carl B. Jessee, Floyd Jones, Michael Brown, Gene Gill, Tim Martin, Albert Vance, Bruce Bentley, Edward Ralph Flanary II, Fred Helms, Gilbert Button, LeeRoy Hilton, Earl Campbell, John Cook, Jim Campbell, and Joseph A.
