Doris Virginia Roark, born September 22, 1931, to the late Robert and Blanch Roope, passed away April 15, 2024, at the age of 92. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband Vernie J.D. Roark; their son Larry Wayne Roark; two sisters Goldie and Gail; and three brothers Larry, Clyde, and Gene.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Jane Rotenberry (Ken) and Sandy Burke (Bruce); daughter-in-law Betty Roark; grandchildren Robyn, Jason, Kerri, Stacie and Marlee; great-grandchildren Jordan, Lauren, Mason, Bo, Sage, Kylee, Paisley, and Levi; and three great-great-grandchildren Ellie, Michael Grey and William.
Doris retired from Sears as a whole-store price changer. She loved thrift stores and garage sales.
Doris was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
The family offers thanks to 4th floor West at Ballad and to Sarah - you were so great with our mother. A special thank-you also to the Ballad Hospice House - such a wonderful, loving group. Stephanie, thank you for being by our side. Thank you to Karen, Sandy, Anne and all the Hospice group, along with a special thanks to Dr. McCormick at HMG. Also, thank-you to Goodson Kinderhook Fire Department.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon with Pastor Nathan Leonard officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason, Mason, Bo, Sage, Jordan, Liam and Colton. Those attending the graveside service are asked to be at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m.
