Dorothy Denzau passed away on July 11, 2023 at her residence. She was born on November 26, 1939, in Washington County, VA. Dorothy graduated from Glade Spring High School in 1957 and went on to have a successful career as an insurance adjuster.
During her time serving in the insurance industry, Dorothy was a member of the Insurance Women of Southwest Virginia. Her dedication and expertise were recognized with two prestigious awards. She was truly passionate about her work and made a positive impact on the lives of many.
Outside of her career, Dorothy had a variety of hobbies and interests. She enjoyed bird watching, working puzzles, camping, and traveling. She was an active member of Friends of Mount Rogers and Friends of Roan Mountain organizations, where she found joy in being surrounded by nature and like-minded individuals. Dorothy also enjoyed being a member of Harvest Time Holiness Church.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Dye, father, Clarence Dye, brother, Bobbie Dye, and nephew, Charles Dye Jr.
Dorothy will be fondly remembered by her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Richard Denzau, her brothers, Charles Dye and Howard Dye and wife Sharon, her sister, Reatha Horton and husband Brian, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be given to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Caris Healthcare for their loving care of Dorothy.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Farris Cremation & Funeral Center – Forest Hills Chapel in Abingdon, VA followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM at the Forest Hills Chapel. Reception to follow at Harvest Time Holiness Church Fellowship Hall, 24246 Maringo Rd, Abingdon, VA.
