Dorothy Rae Cochran

Abingdon, VA

Dorothy Rae Cochran, age 70, passed away at her home on Friday, November 8, 2019. She was a native of Dickenson County, VA and moved with her husband, Ronnie, to Abingdon in 1986. Dorothy accepted Christ as her Savior at age 18 and lived her faith as a member of Holston Valley Baptist Church.  The apples of her eyes were her adopted granddaughters Alison and Mackinzie. Dorothy had songs in her heart, and they were Bluegrass Gospel.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Eula Edwards Anderson; siblings Lois Jones and husband Robert, Cecil Gerald Anderson, Brenda Rose, Nina Edwards, David Anderson, and Wilson Allen Anderson. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ronnie; son Onsby Rose of Sioux, IA; daughter Veronica Hurst and former husband Tony of Abingdon; brother Darrell Anderson of Abingdon; sisters Marge McDonald of Abingdon and Bonicha Williams Stenberg of Hazel, KY; grandchildren Aidan, Timothy, Elijah, Caleb, Colin Rose and Brandon Hurst.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 11, 2019 with Pastor Paul Ketron and Pastor Danny Sluss officiating. Interment will follow in the Anderson Family Cemetery in Dante, VA. Casket bearers will be selected from family and friends.
