Douglas Edward "Eddie" Shatley, Sr.

Abingdon, VA – Douglas Edward “Eddie” Shatley, Sr., age 52, passed on Sunday, February 23, 2020, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.  Eddie was a loving husband, father, and “Pappy”.  He was a carpenter and handyman who was well known for deck construction.  Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Dean Andrew Shatley. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Tammy Jean Shatley; sons, Doug Shatley, Jr. and Alex Shatley; mother, Evelyn Shatley; special grandchildren, Brantley Chapman and Easton Shatley; three brothers, Billy Shatley, Richard Shatley, and Charlie Mutter; and special friend who called him “King Edward”, Courtney “Corty Bug” Haugh. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register. The family of Douglas Edward “Eddie” Shatley, Sr. is being cared for by Farris Cremation & Funeral Center, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210, (276) 623-2700.
