Douglas Randell "Randy" Jones, 45, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Randy was a well known citizen of the Widener's Valley and Green Spring Communities. He worked for Washington County at the Green Springs Solid Waste Dept. for 16 years and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Lennie Hayes and Mae and Gilbert Jones, and brother Douglas Richard Jones, Jr.
He is survived by his parents, Douglas and Joyce Jones of Damascus, VA; sisters, Anita Jones of Damascus, VA and Lynn (Harry) Prater of Meadowview, VA; aunts and uncles, Darlene (Robert) Duncan, Mozelle Burgis, Bessie (Larry) Durham, Ada Widener, Franklin (Marlene) Jones, and Jimmy (Jean) Jones; nieces Rebecca and Kimberly Prater; nephews, Travis and Michael Prater; many cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Dixon and Rev. Ron Roberts officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-6 P.M. Sunday just prior to the service.
Interment will follow at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery with Charles "Ervin" Widener, Daniel Prater, Daniel Jacob Prater, Travis Mitchell, Charles Prater, and Michael Prater serving as pallbearers. Family and friends wishing to attend the interment are asked to meet at the cemetery before 11:00 A.M. Monday.
