Earl Donald Goodson, Jr., age 53, lost his battle with cancer after a year and a half on October 24, 2012 at his home. Earl was born in Abingdon, VA on March 20, 1959 and attended Highlands Fellowship Church.
Earl loved his job and second family of 33 years at Kroger in Abingdon, VA. He brought a smile to everyone's face talking about his collectibles, his joy of rock music and concerts, and the biggest collectible of all, his smart car.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Kathleen Cumbow, niece, Tiffany Robertson, and two uncles, Glenn Cumbow and C.W. Cumbow.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Myra Walls Goodson; son, Earl Donald "Donnie" Goodson, III of Abingdon, VA; parents, Jo Ann and Larry Canter of Abingdon, VA and Don Goodson, Sr. of Abingdon, VA; sister, Sandy Robertson and husband Rhandy of Abingdon, VA; niece and nephews, Christopher, Brandon and Destiney Robertson; loyal companions, Babydog and Ginger.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Bill Edmonds and Rick Mabe officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Kroger.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 P.M. Friday at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register.
