Earnest Bertram Alexander, age 68, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his home. Mr. Alexander worked as an electrician in the coal mines for 44 years and constructed Greenway Creek Golf Club with the help of his son-in-law, Jeff Casey. He worked at the clubhouse and as superintendent for 19 years. He was a member of Abingdon Church of Christ. He was a great friend and help mate to all who knew him.
He was born to the late Smith Alexander and Georgia Patrick Alexander. He is also preceded in death by an infant sister, Linda Faye Alexander, infant granddaughter, Heather Dawn Ramsey; two brothers-in-law, Claude Fife of Kingsport, TN and Buddy Stoots of Lebanon, VA; and one niece, Amy Dotson.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shelby Price Alexander of the home; two daughters, Teresa Casey and husband Jeff of Glade Spring, VA and Lisa Bailey and Johnny Lee of Abingdon, VA; three sisters, Betty Clark and husband Buster of Bristol, VA, Nancy Stoots of Lebanon, VA, and Bethra Fife of Kingsport, TN; three brothers, Kyle Alexander and wife Hazel of Lincoln, IL, Danny Alexander of Bristol, VA, and Eddie Alexander of Bristol, VA; four grandchildren, Amanda Hope Ramsey, Kayla Bailey, Megan Bailey, Chandler Casey; one great granddaughter, Olivia Shaye Ramsey; two sisters-in-law, Gerri Addison and husband Kenneth of Abingdon, VA, Phyllis Dotson and husband Tommy of Cleveland, VA; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Price of Abingdon, VA and Bobby Price and wife Ilene of Augusta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Bill Haywood and Pastor Don Turnmire officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
