Earnest Preston Fuller, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He was born in Russell County, VA to the late George Fuller and Carrie Murdock Fuller on July 18, 1936. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Abingdon, VA. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, working in his garden, traveling and fishing, but above all, he loved spending time with family and socializing with his friends. He was a great husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Preston is preceded in death by his sister, Louise Widener; three brothers, Homer Fuller, Jack Fuller and William Fuller; three half-sisters, Maxine Hobbs, Virgie Compton and Bonnie Looney and three half-brothers, Woodrow Fuller, Henry Fuller and Robert Fuller.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ruth Fuller; four daughters, Ruth Ann Gasaway (David); Kathy Stanley (Harold), Linda Stroup and Gloria Watson (Scott); three sons, Ernie Fuller (Kathy), Wayne Fuller and Bill Fuller; one sister, Mildred Widener; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren.
The family requests a memorial gathering of family and friends on Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Central Baptist Church, 24461 Mock Knob Road, Abingdon, VA 24211.
Memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM at the Central Baptist Church with Pastor Les Ketron officiating. Following the memorial service, the family and friends will gather in the fellowship hall.
The children of Earnest Preston Fuller send a heartfelt “Thank You” to Tracy Yarber, his home health nurse for the care she gave this past year, also the staff at Abingdon Health and Rehab and to the staff at JMH, in Abingdon, VA for their compassion and care of their dad.
In lieu of flowers, Earnest Preston Fuller had requested that donations be made in his memory to the following non-profit organization: The Barns at Blue Mountain, which provides services to children, veterans and at-risk teens, located at 17507 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA 24210 or access them at http://www.barnsatbluemountain.org/donate.
