Earnest Preston Potter, age 67, a lifelong resident of the Denton Valley Community of Bristol, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at his home. He was born to the late William Potter and Malonda Hilliard Potter on March 18, 1949. He owned and operated Potter Logging for over thirty years.
In addition to his parents, Earnest was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Lowe Potter, and his second wife, Margie Hall Potter; sister, Frances Harr; grandson, Daniel Woods; and great-granddaughter, Avery Potter.
He is survived by his daughter, Joyce (John) Woods of Abingdon, Va.; three sons: Tom (Sharon) Potter; Russell (Lori Armstrong) Potter; and Billy (Crystal) Potter all of Bristol, Tenn.; three step-daughters, Donna (Tony) Roark, Dakota and Montana Bailey, all of Bristol, Tenn.; three brothers, C.L., Eugene, and James Potter; two sisters, Vina Harr and Ilene Graybeal; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Bunny Lowe Potter Cemetery in Dentons Valley with Pastor Mark Baumgardner officiating. Those wishing to travel in procession to the cemetery are asked to convene at the funeral home before 1:15 p.m. Sunday. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Potter, Barry Cook, Eugene Gobble, Mike Cox, Lynn Cook, and Eric Cook. Justin Gobble will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
