Eddie Benton,63, of Abingdon, VA, died Thursday, February 16, 2012. Mr. Benton was a U.S. Army Veteran and served his country during the Vietnam War. Eddie was a member of the NRA, loved to hunt and fish and was owner of Benton's Taxidermy. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Nunie Benton, and sister, Charlotte Davis.
He is survived by:
Wife of 33 years Janet Smith Benton of Abingdon, VA
Son Chris (Angie) Benton of Meadowview, VA
Daughters Jenna and Jessica Benton of the home,
Wendy Moore of Bristol, VA, Amber Jones of Lebanon, VA
Brother Ricky (Teresa) Benton of Kingsport, TN
Sister Katie (David) Dean of Gate City, VA
Grandchildren - Hannah, Lane, Jonathan, Anthony, Taylor, Alex, Abby
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Farris Funeral Service Main Street Chapel with Rev. Les Ketron officiating.
A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Military Honors provided by Highlands Fellowship Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Family and friends who wish to go in procession to the cemetery are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Hubbard, Ryan Hubbard, Jason Benton, Jonathan Rodriguez, Jackie Hubbard and Kris Collins.
Visitation with the family will be 6-7:30 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family scholarship fund, 18169 Cleveland Road, Abingdon, VA 24211.
