Eddie Ernest "Ernie" Owens, 54, of Chilhowie passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011.
Ernie was born in Glade Spring, VA to the late Conley and Ruth Thomas Owens. He was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church. Ernie was a member of the 1st Virginia Dismounted Calvary, a Civil War Re-enactment group. Ernie loved farming and was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Sammy Owens.
Ernie is survived by his devoted loving wife of 36 years, Sherian Owens; a son, Ethan Owens of Chilhowie, VA; two daughters, Heather Owens of Chilhowie, VA and her friend James Stevens, and Susan Harris and her husband Shane of Meadowview, VA; one brother, Grant Owens and his wife Sandra of Glade Spring, VA; and two sisters, Betty Heath and her husband James of Glade Spring, VA, and Nellie Heath and her husband Bob of Glade Spring, VA; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Christopher, and Emma; a mother in law, Jayne Thomas of Chilhowie, VA; brother in law, Donnie Thomas of Chilhowie, VA; an aunt, Irene Osborne of Glade Spring, VA; and an uncle, Howard Owens of Chilhowie, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Little Rock Baptist Church, 36242 Loves Mill Road, Glade Spring, VA with Bro. Buster Mullins officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Farris Funeral Service, Main Street Chapel.
