Eddie Saltz

August 24, 1937 — September 20, 2024

Abingdon, VA – Eddie Saltz, age 87, passed at home on Friday, September 20, 2024. Mr. Saltz was born in Three Top Mountain, NC to the late Emory Saltz and Hassie Harris. Eddie was in the military reserve and loved spending his time in the mountains, reading and teaching the bible, carpentry, and spending time with his family. 

He is preceded in death by his brother, Norman Saltz and sister, Janie Harper. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Bertha Saltz; daughter, Karen Saltz; sons, Nathan Saltz, Wesley Saltz and wife Betty Saltz, Glen Saltz, Calvin Saltz, Michael Saltz and wife Brooke Saltz, and Jonathan Saltz and wife Mindy Saltz; two sisters, Emily Norris and Carol Lambert; grandchildren, Jeremy and Corey Hunger, Hannah, Serena, Kaitlin, Shawna, Luke, Lara, Audrey, and Jesse Saltz; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation with the family will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2024, at Farris Funeral Service. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Mountain View Cemetery on Highway 75, in Abingdon VA with Roger Oquinn officiating with Nathan Saltz, Wesley Saltz, Glen Saltz, Calvin Saltz, Michael Saltz, and Jonathan Saltz serving as pallbearers; and honorary pallbearers Dave Saltz, Luke Saltz, Jeremy Hunger, Corey Hunger, Dillon Fritz, and Nathaniel Poore.
