Edna Eskaline Delp

Edna Eskaline Delp, born January 3, 1931, age 94, of Meadowview, Va. went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2025 surrounded by her family. 

Edna lived a full life with her husband of 70 years, Bill Delp, who passed in 2020. They were married on April 2, 1950. They had four children,  Amelia (Ronald) Amidon, Lavonda Heath, Pamela (Gary) Hutchinson, and Alan Delp, who passed in 2020. The family continued to grow with 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren following.

Besides being a loving wife and mother, Edna was a faithful member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Meadowview, Va. where she had been an active member and a devoted community supporter for over 70 years. She was always thinking of others, especially at the beginning of each school year; she would spend most of the year stock piling supplies to donate to local schools in efforts to support the kids who really needed it. She was also a champion for Samaritan's Purse, both Operation Christmas Child and Operation Shoebox were very near to her heart as she loved giving back. Edna also had a love for gardening and boy she was good at it. Whether it was in the vegetable garden or flowers, she had a gift in nurturing and seeing the plants reach their full potential. She was also great with the many dogs Bill would bring home. It wouldn't take long at all before she had them trained to wipe their paws on the rug as they came in the house. Unfortunately this wasn't a skill that she could teach Bill, but she loved him just the same.

Her family was very important to her. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Mary Elizabeth Brannon Widener and Lewis McCall Widener; five sisters, Nellie (infant), Gay (Clayton) Surber, Minnie (Paul) Cullop, Shirley Ann (Lee) Segal, Betty (Kelly) Deel; two brothers, Herman (Lill) Widener, Gordon (Shirley) Widener; and one living sister Violet Rossie.

The family will receive friends and loved ones to share in the many memories had with Edna at Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon, Va on Sunday February 23, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church in Meadowview, Va. on Monday February 24, 2025 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sherrell Dunn (retired) officiating. The burial will follow the service at Forest Hills Memory Garden in Abingdon, Va. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Hutchinson, Blaine Hutchinson, Rick Amidon, Ben Quick, Abram Heath and Rick Widener. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Amidon, Gary Hutchinson and Kelly Deel.

The family would also like to thank the many caregivers who made her journey home as peaceful as possible, especially Beyond Quality of Life, Adoration Home Health, and Gentiva Hospice.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Mountain View Baptist Church, 26697 Old Saltworks Rd, Meadowview, Va. 24361 to honor Edna's Memory.
