Lebanon, VA – Edna Hill Meade, age 89, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was the last child born to the late George and Georgia Hill on November 3, 1925. Edna was a homemaker who enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning in her spare time. She attended West Main Free Will Baptist Church in Abingdon, VA as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by four brothers, Willard Hill, Ernie Hill, Ivory Hill, and Johnny Hill; five sisters, Hattie Layne, Euna Fleming, Faye Mullins, Joyce Hill, and a sister who died in infancy. She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Cloyd Vester Meade; son, Steve Meade of the home; brother-in-law, Billy Mullins of King George, VA; sister-in-law, Betty Hill of Clintwood, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Reverend Willis Osborne officiating. A committal service will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Roy Hicks and Ray Shortt will serve as honorary pallbearers.
