Abingdon, VA – Edward Milton Moore, age 100, passed on Monday, May 2, 2022, in Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He retired from VDOT after 25 years of employment and was a longtime member of Chestnut Grove Community Church.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie C. and Writtie Wise Moore; wife of 70 years, Eula Belle Denny Moore; daughter, Avis Bell; great grandson, Cameron McClain; and eight siblings.
He is survived by his daughter, Iris Horton of London, KY; son, Perry Moore and wife Debra of Abingdon, VA; son-in-law, John C. Bell, Jr.; grandchildren, Amber McClain, Aaron Bell, Brent Horton, Brad Horton, Jeffery Moore, Justin Moore, and Kimberly Moore; great grandchildren, Connor McClain, Haley McClain, Emma McClain, Brantley Horton, Brinley Horton, Briley Horton, and Annabel Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2022, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Travis Fletcher and Bro. Frank Scott officiating. Music will be provided by the Chestnut Grove Quartet. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with grandsons and friends serving as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia Army National Guard.
