Elden Kelly Mabe, age 93, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born to the late Kelly Elden Mabe and Flora Duncan Mabe in Troutdale, Va. Elden owned and operated Mabe Trucking and spread gravel and lime on farms throughout Southwest Virginia. He attended Liberty Chapel Church and formerly attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Elden was also preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Mary Sauls Mabe; sister, Thelma Pierce; brother, Bronson Mabe; and a great grandson, Joseph Darrell Mabe.
He is survived by three sons, Darrell Mabe of Marion; Ricky Mabe and wife, Peggy, of Abingdon; and Richard “Tiny” Mabe of Marion; four grandchildren, Joseph Mabe, Kimberly Mabe Roberts, Dustin Russ, and David Childress; great grandchild, Sonny Roberts; and a special friend, Dolly Matney.
A funeral ceremony will be held at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. with Paul Price and Pastor Jason Hand officiating. A committal service will be held at Troutdale Cemetery on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. where David Childress, Don Clappse, Randy Cole, Walter Edmondson, Dustin Russ and Ernest Sullivan will serve as pallbearers.
