Abingdon, VA – Eleanor Charlene Keesee Neese, age 89, passed on Friday, January 6, 2023, in Johnston Memorial Hospital. She had a wonderful 89 years with us here of which she spent 71 with the love of her life, her husband Bernard Neese.
Charlene was a 1952 Graduate of William King High School and was an employee of Harwood Manufacturing for over 30 years. After retirement, she switched professions to spoiling her grandchildren, all of which loved spending time at her house. Bernard and Charlene were members of Abingdon Bible Church and have so many precious memories and friends from their time there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Arthur Keesee and Maxie Galliher Keesee; special sister, Peggy Gregory; brother-in-law, Wiley Gregory; and nephew, Billy Gregory.
Charlene’s memories will be carried forward by her loving husband Bernard; her special daughters, Brenda (Dwight) Crane, Carole (Randy) Carmack; grandchildren, Jenny (Chris) Spurlock, Kari (Jackie) Akers, Mindy Crane, Cassie Pochyla, Nolan (Maggy) Carmack; nephew, Allen (Jonna Sutherland) Gregory; God children, Johnathan Berry, Jason Berry, and Jennifer Blankenship; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2022, in the Main Street location of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Jason Bakker and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Internment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park with Chris Spurlock, Jackie Akers, Nolan Carmack, Allen Gregory, Jason Berry, Johnathan Berry, Neal Pochyla, and Davis Pochyla serving as pallbearers. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital for making Charlene and her family so comfortable until the end.
