Elizabeth Irene Dixon, 57, passed away March 16, 2017 in Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born October 24, 1959 in Abingdon to the late Joyce Marie Hatfield and Edward Lincoln Able.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-father, Marshall Hatfield who passed away December 3, 2016. Irene dearly loved Marshall and spent the last five years taking care of him during his illness.
Irene is survived by her son, Christopher Adam Dixon of Abingdon; two sisters, Alice Marie Honaker and husband Buddy of Abingdon, and Patricia Ann Parris and husband Alan of Bonita Springs, Fla..; brother, Edward L. Able, Jr. and Pattie Prosser of Myrtle Beach, S.C..; nieces, April Powers and Samantha Able; nephews, Jack Edward Honaker and Adam Eskridge; great-niece, Reagan Honaker; and great-nephew, Logan Honaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with Pastor Scott Homesley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Honarary pallbearers will be Logan Honaker, Ed Honaker, Ricky Poe, Roger Poe and Shea Poe.
