Ella Mae McFadden, 81, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in Valley Health Care.
She was born December 19, 1929 in Washington County, VA and was a daughter of the late Roberts Cummings Brannon and Etta Hopkins. Mrs. McFadden loved to go to the Senior Citizen's Centers in Glade Spring and Clinchburg, VA; had worked as a beauty assistant in various shops doing shampoos; and at Southland Vending Company she worked as food preparation assistant. She had been a member of Carvosso United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She had a devoted love for her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph Brannon, Charles "Crick" Brannon and L. Jack Brannon.
Survivors are her husband of 60 years, Thomas F. "Tom" McFadden; one sister, Addie Henderson of Glade Spring, VA; special friend, Naomi Lindsey and several nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to extend special thanks to the 5th Floor Nursing Staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Nurses with Wythe County Hospice and Dr. Jim Denton and Dr. Sue Prill.
Funeral services for Mrs. McFadden will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 23, 2010 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Leonard Smith and Rev. Mark McFadden officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 7:45 P.M. Thursday.
Committal services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 24, 2010 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family and pallbearers will meet at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service by 10:30 A.M. Friday to go in procession to Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Friends are asked to join the family at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Gilmer, Farley Thomas, Dick Duncan, David Hale, Nathaniel "Rufus" Hawthorne, Lowden Thomas, Donald Brannon and Alfredo Lopez. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Clark, Harold Hagy, Jackie Thomas, Mark Hale, Chris Hale and Men of Carvosso United Methodist Church.
