Ellen Louise Tuckwiller

Abingdon, VA Ellen Louise Tuckwiller passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born in Charleston, WV and had lived most of her life in the Abingdon area. Prior to retiring due to health reasons, she had taught swimming at various locations throughout the area. Ellen enjoyed children and loved cats. She was also a talented amateur photographer. She might have seemed quiet when you first met her, but soon her witty personality would shine through. Ellen had a big heart and was very caring; she would do anything for anyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Margie Lou Tuckwiller. She is survived by her fiancé, Norman Fagan of Red House, WV; brother Donald Watts Tuckwiller of Berlin, Germany; sister Nancy Tuckwiller Tuell of Abingdon; nephew Renick Tuell, wife Pam and their children Julie, Wyatt and Briley of Abingdon; and special friend, Steve Shumate. The family would like to offer special thanks to the Green Spring Volunteer Fire Department, Caris Hospice, the staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital, and all other caregivers for Ellen. There will be a Celebration of Life for Ellen Tuckwiller at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Tuckwiller’s picnic shelter. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Green Spring Volunteer Fire Department, 22632 Green Spring Church Road, Abingdon, VA 24211.
