Eloise was a lady who was there when anyone in the community was sick or needed help, taking food, helping with doctor appointments or whatever else was needed. She loved her church and church family at Meadowview United Methodist Church. She also taught the nursery class for many years.
Eloise was a proud member of the Home Demonstration Club (FCE) of Washington County for 62 years. She participated in the Crooked Road cookbook. She served as a Cub Scout Den mother for many years as well as being very active in her children’s school. Eloise was a friend to everyone. Her pride and joy was her little great grandchildren, enjoying every moment with them. Most of all she loved her Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Besides her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Betty Jo Buckles, son George Dennis Buckles, grandson Gregory Allen Sutherland, sisters Evelyn R. Wilkinson, Dorothy R. Taylor, brother, Samuel Dennis Riddle and Lillian Peery who was like a mother to her.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Buckles Sutherland and husband Gary of Marion, VA, her grandsons Jason N. Sutherland and wife Brittnee of Fleetwood, NC and Levi Buckles of Abingdon, VA, and granddaughter Maggi Jane Buckles and husband Tim Kiser of Abingdon, VA. She is also survived by her great granddaughters Haivyn and Hope Sutherland, great grandsons Jax Buckles and Lucas and Zackery Kiser, and her bus tour travel friend Margaret Carter. She is also survived by two very special nieces, Janice Cornett and Carolyn Dando who have stood by her and helped in her care these past two years of her illness.
