Elsie Parsons Rector

Elsie Parsons Rector, age 95, of Bristol, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 25, 2017. She was born August 23, 1922, in Eola, Ky. to the late Arlie Parsons and Shirley Gladys Carey Parsons. Most of her adult life was spent in the Clinchburg Community of Washington County. Most recently, she resided in Bristol. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, proud grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and a devout Christian. She loved needlework, especially quilting. She was a member of Wallace United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Elsie was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. Rector; and daughter, Susan Rector Lester. She was the last surviving sibling of her immediate family.

She is survived by her son, James (Ann) Rector, of Bristol, Va.; four daughters: Jane (Tim) Haer, of Moneta, Va.; Becky Johnson; Jody Denton; and Linda Rector, all of Bristol, Va.; four grandchildren, Jeff (Kim) Johnson; Lisa (Bill) Clausen; April (Jerry) Lester; and Jamey (Lauren) Rector; three great grandchildren, Anna Clausen, Liam Johnson, and Cecilia Johnson; brother-in-law, C.W. (Edith) Rector of Clinchburg, Va.; and son-in-law, Jerry Lester, of Floyd, Va.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Luther W. Roberts officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Jeff Johnson, Jamey Rector, Jerry Wilson, Murphy Rector, and Gary Thomas will serve as pallbearers. C.W. Rector and Lacy Denton will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at the funeral home.
