Elza Wilson Ball, age 76, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Bristol Regional Medical Center, following a short illness.
Wilson was born and raised in Meadowview, Va. He was a son of the late Benjamin R. Ball and Lydia Cathleen Ball. He spent his career as a diesel mechanic and shop foreman at MXI where he retired in 2020 with 33 years. In his free time he enjoyed competing in tractor pulls and working on trucks in his garage.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Pugh Ball; and a great grandson, Remington Wesley Lane Gragg.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Stephanie Parks and husband, Chris, of Lebanon, Va. and Melinda Craft of the home; son, Allen Ball of Abingdon, Va.; five grandchildren: Samantha Plaster and husband, Braydon, of Lebanon, Va.; Amanda Gragg of Abingdon, Va.; Charlene Ball Abingdon, Va.; Kimberly Craft of Gastonia, N.C.; and Danielle Sanchez of Gastonia, N.C.; brother, Earl Ball and wife, Velma, of Fayetteville, N.C.; several great grandchildren; and close friend, Howard “Julio” Blevins.
A cryptside service will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Donnie Shaffer officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, Va. 24210. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Hughes, Tiger Pugh, Woody Williamson, Chris Williamson, Micky Balthazar, Ron Potter, and the staff at MXI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
