Erik Edward Blankenship of Abingdon, VA went home to be with our Lord on November 10, 2024. Erik was born in Chicago, IL on January 27th, 1973, the son of the late Victoria Lynn Blankenship (Taylor).
Erik is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jessica (JP) Blankenship (Davis); his daughters, Karaline B. Davis (Kara), Tessa L. Blankenship, and Libby D. Blankenship, all of Abingdon, VA; and his younger brother, Enrique Gutierrez of Winfield, WV. Erik was a Tanker in the U.S. Army. He served in the 4th Infantry Division 1-66 Armor at Fort Hood, TX. There, he met his battle brothers Charles Harris of Dublin, GA and John Lugo of San Antonio, TX. He also had a host of Bandit Brothers.
There will be a private viewing at Farris Funeral Service Abingdon, VA on Thursday November 14, at 11:00. Military burial will follow at the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN at 2:00 pm. Military honors will be provided by Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard and Boone's Creek VFW.
