Ernest “Skeeter” Yeatts, Jr., age 75, of Meadowview, Va., passed away at Choice Healthcare Nursing facility in Abingdon, Va. He was the son of the late Ernest Sr. and Ruby Hutton Yeatts.
He is survived by two sons, Stuart Yeatts and his wife, Beth, of Youngsville, N.C.; Scott Yeatts and, Amanda, of Wendell, N.C.; two grandchildren, Reagan Yeatts of Youngsville, N.C. and Liam Yeatts of Wendell, N.C.
He was a teacher at Damascus Middle School and Holston High School, both in Damascus, Va. He was a minister with the United Methodist Church and served as pastor for multiple congregations in the Saltville, Va. area. Ernest was a longtime Boy Scout leader in the Southwest Virginia region. He spent many years facilitating scouting events in the area. He greatly valued the life skills taught through scouting. He was a loving father, grandfather and a fierce friend.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Farris Funeral Service located at 423 Main St. Abingdon, Va. 24210.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Farris Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Barbara Doyle officiating. Burial will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park Cemetery in Abingdon, Va.
