Esther Bailey, 99, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2010 in Fredericksburg, VA at the Woodmont Nursing Center. She was born in Washington County, VA the daughter of the late James and Calla Gilley. Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Bailey, sister, Ocie Price and brothers Delmar and James â??Jr.' Gilley.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by a daughter, Betty Schwartz and her husband George Schwartz; three grandchildren, David S. Cain, Charles D. Cain and Dr. Susan Toback. Mrs. Bailey has seven great-grandchildren: Robert, Rebecca, Benjamin, and Madeline Cain; Sophia and Simon Toback; and Erin Marie Cain.
Mrs. Bailey was of the Methodist faith and a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church, Abingdon, VA.
A graveside service will be held at Knollkreg Memorial Park, Abingdon, VA on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Bob Neace officiating. Friends will meet at Farris Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Cain, David Cain, Dr. Seth Toback, George Schwartz, Bill Price, and Robert Cain.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
